Many non Catholics and even atheists, such as Geroge Bernard Shaw, wrote books about her. The fascination increased until she was canonized in 1920, about the same time as St. Therese of Lisieux (1925). Therese was another one who was fascinated with Joan, writing a play about her while she was in the convent at Lisieux. This artwork is from the 1918 book Joan
