while the sculpted form rises and falls in gentle waves inspired by the movement of the water beside which it lives

The whenu has been boiled and dyed (double black) to preserve it

Tōtōpū Local Artists Hāura simply means 'basic brown'This framed tauira is created using harakeke (flax) harvested from Omaka in Blenheim. The harakeke has been boiled to preserve it and was saved from the off cuts of a kete. Ttp refers to the robust or sturdy nature of this fibre.
