The flax has been boiled and dyed (forest green) to preserve it

where the orange whenu sits on top of the natural pieces

The name relates to the threads of vibrant energy  - summer is on its way

Atawhai Local Artists This framed tauira is createdThis kete whakairo has been created using harakeke (flax) harvested from the Taylor River in Blenheim. The flax has been boiled and dyed to preserve it, and has been created in the style of patikitiki. Atawhai speaks of 'kindness or caring for' much like that which Papatnuku gives to the harakeke along the banks of the awa. Toi size (approximate): Height: 20 cmWidth: 30 cm
