'Staunton' Pattern Chess Set Curated_xmas23_planesboatscars 5 cm/6 inches (height)A fine example of a classic English chess set with weighted turned and carved Boxwood and Ebony 'Staunton' pattern pieces, in a period Mahogany box with silk lining and key. Circa 1900. A few of the ebony pieces display shrinkage cracks in the turned base sections that are typical of these weighted sets. Dimensions: Height of King 10 cm 4 inches. Box 27. 25 cm 10 inches x 19 cm 7 inches x 10 cm 4 inches tall.
