I think the Monster is well-supported enough in this set that it is probably worth a first pick in some weaker packs

Beyond Commander, theres a chance this card could see play in mono-blue Tron or Affinity decks in Modern

Cards in mint condition, which today would be graded PSA 9 or 10, could be found for between 300 and 500 dollars -- a considerable price for the time but laughable compared to future highs
